You and the spectre step onto the first floor. "See that digital message board above the doors to the dining hall? Cost over $10,000. Uses a programming language reminiscent of postscript to run decades-old technology for a purpose redundant with 1000 other utilities on campus."

 "Golly," you offer helpfully.

"The Info Desk-- or should I say, the Cooke Information Center-- employs students who sit on their ass, hand out maps for 7 straight hours, and then check windows for 45 minutes each night."

 "What about passing out information?"

"Yeah, right. They're not even trained to. Sometimes, when the action gets really heavy, they have to answer the phone. Of course, it's not their fault. They're just paid. The Info Desk is the fault of the idiots who designed this place: its location, its size, its configuration, even its purpose is questionable. The same damn thing could probably be accomplished with one well-labeled magazine rack."

"Why is the building like this? And how come it's so far from the center of campus? And where is everybody?"

"Well, this was supposed to be a student center, which this campus has already destroyed three of, by the way,A but for some dumb reason they took the 'student' out of the center. Then they made a whole bunch of stupid last-minute compromises during construction, which further screwed up the inside. In effect, it was designed badly, then compromised, then bastardized.

"Then they started moving out student services. The Game Room: nixed in favor of CU Graphics, a business that's in all ways unrelated to Clark, except it's got 'CU' in the name. The 21 Club: nixed in order to make Grind Central, the biggest social disaster since Foley showed up at a Trustee dinner without his mustache. Only the Craft Studio has remained untouched, but I think that's because they only hire Bond Women."B

"This place is beginning to give me a headache."

"Get used to it. Now, do you wanna tour the north side of campus first, or the west side?"

North side, turn to Page 35.

West side, turn to Page 62.
