You enter Mike Dennis' office without knocking.

Dennis looks up like a startled mongoose and quickly sweeps the papers on his desk into a drawer. "How do you do, sir," he offers.

"Pretty good. How do you like the job so far?"

"Well, it can be chall-- "

"That's great. Listen, we need to form a committee to explore methods of scraping the SAF onto our side of the university."

"But sir, the Student Activities Fee is just that. Perhaps we could congregate informally and facilitate scenario-dependent interactions..."

"Come off it, Dennis. You know as well as I do that committee meetings only serve two functions: to prove to outsiders that we have coherent procedures for decision-making, and to exclude undesirables so that the same seven people get to make all the major decisions." As you deliver this nugget of wisdom, you feel very presidential.

"So listen, Dennis, I want a membership list for this committee by the end of the day. Collins should chair; Bottis co-chair."

"How many students should we invite?"

You just stare at him. He swallows hard.

"Uh, apologies, sir. Lost my head. I will acclimate to the contingent protocols with due haste. Look: I already purchased a suit."

 "Well done, Mike."

You exit the office with a wink to Elly Russell, courageous receptionist of Collins and Dennis, and stride into the hallway like you've got somewhere important to go.
