The CYOCAs

The University is financially organized (if anything about Clark can be said to be "organized" at all) according the "Enterprise System"-- every department for itself. Bottis, as Director of Physical Plant, is the man who most represents the idiocy of taking the Enterprise ethos to its logical extreme.

This example is based on something his office tried to pull on the students before school began in 1996. Student Council was called in after both WheatBread and The Scarlet reported about it, and President Chris Condon was able to negotiate a successful retraction.

The figure of a $1 per call was reported (correctly) in WB,but by the time The Scarlet got around to publishing, the charge had been lowered to $0.25 per call. Many people (including, strangely enough, The Scarletitself) assumed we had simply gotten it wrong, when in truth the facts had changed. So by bringing it up again, I suppose I was defending our journalistic honor, in a roundabout way.
