Jim Collins' office You're standing in Jim Collins office, explaining why you need the Academic and Financial Plan. You've just gotten to the fact that you're 0 for 5 in as many offices in the senior administration, when he can no longer contain himself.

"Darn it, Dick, you should have come to me first. I have all these documents. I'm the one you come to with these problems. Always. I have the answer for everything."

"Everything? What do you mean? You're telling me that I should come to you, the VP in charge of finance, for a document that's written by the Provost and that contains the President's vision for the school?"

"That's right, I'm the man. I also have control over space at this university."A

"What about Linda Connors and Dave Milstone? And the Provost? Or at least Paul Bottis?"

"Peons. I defy their authority all the time. Watch this." With a weird scary smile, he leans over the speakerphone, hits a key, and says, "Hey, Dennis, I want you to get Barnes and Noble out of the Specialty Shop by Monday. Then put pressure on Connors to fill the space, causing a crisis for the UAC that won't be resolved for another 9 months." He sits back and looks at you.C

"Well, shit, Jim, I could do that, too. Don't make me fire Bill BennettD just to make a point."

"OK, well, my only point is that I am the answer to all questions."

"So, do you have a copy of the Plan?"

"No, I lost mine. But Mike Dennis may have one. If not, it's in the Library."B

 Great.

Head to Dennis' office, over on page 12.
